Platinum Wedding Bands are Another Option After White Gold
Some people do not know and aware about the differences between white gold and platinum. Beside white gold as their wedding bands, they will look for platinum wedding bands and make a consideration about two of them. What is the best material for them? Here is the explanation.
Platinum is a true white metal, in that the pure form -approximately 95% pure- is a purely white in color. It is a much stronger metal and it does not need to be Rhodium plated like white gold. The density of platinum is approximately double of pure gold. Platinum costs a lot more than gold because it is expensive than gold and gold jewelry has other cheaper alloys in it. In case, platinum wedding bands in some countries can not resell, not like white gold. However, If you are purchasing high wear items that will be worn daily such as wedding rings we suggest platinum. Platinum is a lot more expensive but it will last years. Keep in mind that platinum is very dense. If your ring is bigger, thicker, and wider then platinum ring will be a lot heavier then gold rings.
For two tone rings we strongly suggest 18k yellow gold and platinum suggestion. It will be more costly ,but will not require additional rhodium plating or any maintenance to maintain it’s white color. If you are not sure about your ring design or if you want to try different settings for your engagement ring in the future then we strongly suggest white gold. It will cost a lot less. If you are confident about the design of your ring and want to keep it long time then platinum wedding bands should be your choice. If your budget is limited you can chose white gold. If white color fades out you can always get it rhodium plated in a local jewelry store. It should not cost more than $50. Of course in several years you may end up paying more than buying a platinum ring, however, the initial cost will be a lot less. Happy thinking!
